Self Insurance

Unfortunately Workers Compensation insurance places an emphasis on Injury Management rather than prevention via a good Occupational Health & Safety Management System.

Many CFO’s and others see little correlation between the cost of OHS practices and the premiums paid. This is due to a variety of issues notably cross subsidisation between employers and the rise of ‘soft’ injuries such as stress.

Self Insurance, if applicable can address some of these issues but it also allows OHS and Workers Compensation to be linked together with the potential for significant improvements in the safety culture of the organisation.

RiskChase have assisted a number of organisations move to Self Insurance including –

• Major retailers
• Regional abattoirs
• Cleaning companies
• Engineering services and labour hire organisations

We would be pleased to advise and assist organisations that feel they are mature and large enough to make this move.
